OPA Auditors Accept Knighton Award

The Office of Public Accountability (OPA) auditors Llewelyn Terlaje and Christian Rivera accepted the 2017 Knighton Award during the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA) 30th Conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado. OPA's audit report, "Department of Public Works Village Streets Management Strategy," won the Knighton Award in the extra-large shop category. Part of the trip to the conference was paid for by ALGA.

OPA Participates in the 2018 Island Leadership Day

Students from Santa Barbara Catholic School, Madel Sibal and Joshua Valencia, and Academy of our Lady of Guam, Kohana Fejeran, observed firsthand experience being a leader at OPA.

Guam OPA and Palau OPA Performed Peer Review of the FSM National OPA

​The Guam Office of Public Accountability (OPA) and the Republic of Palau Office of the Public Auditor conducted a peer review of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) Office of the Public Auditor. Audit organizations are required by the Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States to undergo an independent external quality control review every three years.
 
The peer review was funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Interior, Office of Insular Affairs.

Office of the Public Auditor recently performed a peer review of the Pohnpei State Office of the Public Auditor. Audit organizations are required by the Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States to undergo an independent external quality control review (peer review) every three years.
 
The peer review was funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), Office of Insular Affairs (OIA).

OPA Audit Wins ALGA Knighton Award

The Office of Public Accountability (OPA) is delighted to share that the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA) has awarded OPA the Exemplary Knighton Award for the audit of the Department of Public Works Village Streets Management Strategy (OPA Report No. 17-09) in the Extra-Large Shop category.
 
This is the first time OPA received an award for an audit, but not the first time to receive an award from ALGA. OPA received two Silver Website Awards back in 2009 and 2011.

Audit Supervisor Celebrates 15 Years of Government Service at OPA

The Office of Public Accountability (OPA) is pleased to announce Rodalyn May A. Gerardo’s celebration of 15 years of “Auditing for Good Governance” on January 9, 2018. Rodalyn is the first OPA staff to reach this milestone.

Rodalyn holds six professional designations: CPA, CIA, CGFM, CGAP, CGMA, and CICA. Public Auditor Doris Flores Brooks often refers to her as the "Queen of Certifications." She is also a member of AGA, AICPA, IIA, GSCAP, and IIC.

Rodalyn continues to be a role model for aspiring young professionals. Currently, she is continuing her education and professional development and is enrolled in a Master of Business Administration-Accounting program at Mississippi College. Way to go, Rod!
